Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is a type of skin cancer that typically develops in areas exposed to the sun. In its early stages, BCC may appear as a small, shiny, flesh-colored, or pink bump that might bleed easily, crust over, or develop a depression in the center. It can also look like a red patch or a translucent, pearly bump. These basal cell early-stage signs might not cause discomfort, but any persistent skin changes should be examined by a dermatologist.
